Was it
a. the bevy of malevolent dust clouds kicked up while sifting through three years worth of books and stuff to make way for the Big Move?
b. the the loving snot of two babies, or perhaps the proximity of their germy mouths as one of them actually attempted to eat my nose for lunch?
c. the mounting stress [...]

Deep in the doldrums of a New Jersey summer Nor’easter, there was really only one way to go:  soup.  Mom and Sister K made an extraordinary stew of split peas, barley, sweet potatoes, onions, carrots, cardamom, and plenty of fresh basil.  Their spread began with tiny treats of [...]

Updates

I bought a bike helmet.  I found a cute shiny black one for $10 at Second Gear in West Asheville, while the barrage o’ cool was taking place at Harvest Records this past Saturday morning.  Yes, even my bike helmet must be chic.  This is the reality, people.
Also, I don’t think you should order the “Double [...]

The Double Decker Coffee Bus is back!  The DJ reports a better atmosphere then before, great service, new milkshakes, and a bathroom on it’s way.
I have always loved the Double Decker Coffee Bus.  I think the coffee is terrific, but I especially love to sit on the top floor and watch a perfect Asheville sunset [...]

Small Town Gossip

Psst.  Here’s a secret.  Come closer.  Closer, still.  Okay, good.   The following post is being written in a whisper.
I have inside information that Asheville’s Sushi Mafia, The Chen Family, recently parted ways with their best, nicest, and most talented sushi chef, who we will call George.
I first met “George” at Wasabi about four years ago.  He’s a [...]
